Jessica Power 2012 Season in Review; Breakout Season For Power Includes Feature Win and Top Five in Points at Brockville and Mohawk

The 2012 racing season was a breakout season of sorts for Jessica Power and the Power Racing team. They picked up their second career Sportsman victory, but even more importantly, they improved on their consistency throughout the season and established themselves as a top five team at both Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway where they raced weekly this season.

Power had a very busy schedule this year, racing in 47 events, which was more then any other local Sportsman team. She started the season with a trip to Canandaigua in early April and another road trip to Merrittville Speedway just a couple weeks later before opening the season at Mohawk Raceway and Brockville. The first couple weeks of the season were a little bit of a struggle, but she followed that up with a streak of 10 consecutive to 10 finishes in a month’s span that also included her win at Brockville Speedway on June 16th. Her consistent season at Brockville earned her a third place finish in the overall Sportsman point standings, and also finished fifth overall in points at Mohawk Raceway after posting several top five finishes throughout the season. Overall, she finished the season with 30 top ten finishes, and 13 top five results.

In addition to racing at Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway, Power also followed the DIRTcar Sportsman Series. She competed in every event and finished 11th in overall points out of the 115 drivers that attempted at least one of the races in the Series.

“We had a really good season”, says Power. “We were able to get a win, and were very close on a couple other occasions. Our consistency really improved a lot over last year, and we were able to finish in the top five in points at both weekly tracks”.

Other then the win at Brockville, another season highlight was competing at Syracuse for the first time. She started the 30 lap race from the rear of the field on a track that is very tough to pass on, and after taking several laps just trying to get familiar with the place she started to move forward and finished a very respectable 15th place out of nearly 70 cars that ere there attempting to make the event.

“Syracuse was really exciting for all of us, as we were there competing for the first time”, says Power. “We struggled early in the week, just trying to figure the place out, but as the race went on, I got more comfortable and we were actually running pretty good towards the end”.

The 2012 season may be over, but there is still one more event remaining away from the track as Power and the team are going to have their car on display at the Parts Peddler Trade Show on November 16th to 18th. The car will be on display in the Finish Line Web Design booth and Jessica and the team will be there throughout the weekend.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel remaining. Be sure to stop by the Parts Peddler show and make your purchase or you can send us an email at power52racing@hotmail.com.

Jessica Power and the Power Motorsports team would like to thank Speedy Auto Service, Gananoque Chev-Olds, Fastenal, Jackson’s Landscaping and Property Maintenance, Wing’s Live Bait & Tackle, John’s Your Local Grocer, Stover Bus Lines, Axcel Sports, Great Chow Express, Star Diner, Len Corcoran Excavating, Glen Gould Estate Construction, Bicknell Racing Products, Bert Transmission Atomic Sign Works, Bob Hilbert Sportswear, South Eastern Mechanical Inc., Camara Slate, and Finish Line Web Design for their support during the 2012 racing season.

Jessica Power Gets Top 15 Finish in First Ever Super DIRT Week Experience; 2012 Season Ends This Sunday in Fall Nationals at Brockville

After a great deal of time, money and effort spent preparing for Super DIRT Week, Jessica Power and her team have come away from the festivities with a top 15 finish and some valuable experience that will help when they return next year.

With more the 60 cars battling for only 30 starting spots in the premiere Sportsman event of the season, finishing in the top 15 is a great accomplishment for anyone, let alone a team making their first appearance at the track. Syracuse is unlike any other track, being a full mile in length and speeds a lot higher then a normal short track.

Jessica struggled early in practice on Thursday, trying to find more speed throughout the session. The car was a little better on Friday in time trials, as she posted the 34th fastest speed out of the 61 cars that made an attempt. The Futures race was up next on Friday afternoon, giving first time racers at Syracuse some added track time. Jessica finished her race in 11th place in her race that featured two groups of 18 cars in each one.

Although she still had to race her way into the show, Power was optimistic going into the last chance qualifier on Saturday. However, with rain falling early on Saturday morning, track officials had to make some changes to the schedule, and the last chance qualifying race was cancelled. Power would make the race using a provisional starting spot that she earned by being in the top 12 in DIRTcar Sportsman Series points and was scheduled to start the 30 lap championship race from the rear of the field. Ultimately, the race ended up getting postponed until Sunday. When the race finally got underway, Power drove a great race, moving steadily up the leaderboard. She battled lap after lap, and ended with a solid 15th place finish.

“We are extremely happy with how our week went”, says Power. “We got better and better each time we were on the track. “This was our first time here, and we learned a lot. I can’t wait to come back here next year”.

This coming weekend will be the season finale for the Power Racing team. They will be on the track on Sunday, October 14th for the final DIRTcar Sportsman Series race of 2012 as part of the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals Weekend.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel remaining. Be sure to stop by and make your purchase at Brockville this week or you can send us an email at power52racing@hotmail.com.

Jessica Power Getting Ready For First Ever Super DIRT Week Appearance

For the first time in her young racing career, Jessica Power and her DIRTcar Sportsman team are making their final preparations for Super DIRT Week. The busy week will begin on Wednesday night for a Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series race at Cayuga County Fair Speedway, and will continue the rest of the week at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

Once the Power Racing team rolls into the New York State Fairgrounds on Thursday, they will have practice and time trials for the Sportsman Futures Race, then Friday will be more practice and qualifying for Saturday’s Sportsman Championship race as well as the Futures race event. Saturday will be the 30 lap Sportsman Series race. The Futures race is geared for teams that have not raced at Syracuse before in their respective divisions, and gives them a little more track time to adjust to the fast speeds that are seen at the Fairground’s mile long track.

“We are pretty excited about racing at Syracuse this year”, says Power. “We have had a pretty good season, and have had a lot of support from our sponsors and fans, and I can’t wait to get out there and see what we can do”.

Right now, the team is putting some finishing touches on the car, including putting a brand new body on the car, and going over every last detail making sure they are ready for the biggest Sportsman Series race of the season. Super DIRT Week is often described as the “Daytona 500” of DIRTcar racing, and the team is anxious to get started.

Once Syracuse is complete, Power will have one final event remaining on her 2012 schedule. She will return to Brockville Speedway for the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals as they host the DIRTcar Sportsman Series finale on Sunday, October 14th.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week. The profits from the sales of the team shirts will be used to fund their efforts for Super DIRT Week. To purchase your shirt, visit us at the track on raceday, or email power52racing@hotmail.com.

Jessica Power Gets 13th Place Finish in DIRTcar Sportsman Series Race at Mohawk International Raceway; Welcomes Camara Slate as New Sponsor

It was a long night at Mohawk International Raceway on Saturday night, as they ended their 2012 season with a DIRTcar Sportsman Series race that ended just after 2am on Sunday morning after a full day of racing at the track, cramming a scheduled two-day racing weekend into one after battling Mother Nature.

Power and the rest of the DIRTcar Sportsman were part of Saturday night’s show, so after watching a full day of racing already that started in the afternoon, they were ready to hit the track for Saturday night’s events. Jessica timed fifth fastest in her qualifying group, earning the fifth position to start her heat race. She finished in fourth, earning the 13th starting spot for the 50 lap main event. It was a tough race, as the track had been well used by the time the Sportsman cars hit the track for the final feature of the weekend. Passing was at a premium on the one lane surface and she finished just one spot higher then she started in 12th place.

“We were looking for much better results tonight”, but there was nothing we could do the way the track was at the end of the night”, says Power after the race. “We hoped that after running here all season we would have an advantage over some of the other cars running the series, but it just didn’t work out”.

Power is now 11th in DIRTcar Series points for the Sportsman, which means she has earned guaranteed starter status in case she needs it during the upcoming race at Brighton Speedway this weekend. Power will be looking for a good run at Brighton during the Applefest Weekend as she tries to move into the top 10.

Following Brighton Speedway this weekend, Power will be getting the car prepared for their first ever trip to the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse for Super DIRT Week. She will run the Sportsman Futures race on Thursday, October 4th and the Syracuse Sportsman Championship race on October 6th. She will close out the 2012 season at Brockville Speedway on October 14th as part of the 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals.

It was just recently announced that Camara Slate has signed on as an associate sponsor for Super DIRT Week. It has now been confirmed that Camara Slate will also be a sponsor for the entire 2013 season.

“We are very excited to have Camara Slate on board with us for DIRT Week and the 2013 season”, says Power. “This will be our first year at Syracuse and we are thrilled to have such great support from all of our sponsors”.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week. The profits from the sales of the team shirts will be used to fund their efforts for Super DIRT Week at the end of the 2012 season. Jessica Power Returns From DIRTcar Sportsman Weekend Tour With Disappointing Results; MIR is Next as DIRTcar Series Continues

With the 2012 regular season over, Jessica Power was ready to hit the road and due some traveling with the DIRTcar Sportsman Series. She ran the three race Ransomville, Merrittville and Humberstone Speedway section of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series last season, and with some notes to fall back on, the team was hoping to come out of the weekend with some strong finishes and solidify a spot in the top 10 in the series as it returns to more familiar territory this coming weekend.

Ransomville Speedway was the first stop on the tour, located near Niagara Falls, on the American side of the border. Power started the night off well, finishing third in her qualifying heat race, and locking in a spot in the night’s 50 lap main event. Qualifying in itself was a tough task with 45 cars attempting to get in the show and only 30 starting spots available. The race was filled with carnage, lots of wrecked race cars by the time the 50 lap feature was over. Power had started 14th and had moved towards the top ten before getting caught up in wreck just a few laps into the race. She went to the pits to have the crew check the car over, and returned to the track for the restart. At the checkered flag, Power would cross the line with a 21st place finish.

The team made the short drive over to Merrittville Speedway for Saturday night’s events and a steady morning rain left the team in doubt as to whether or not there would be any racing. Just after noon, the skies began to clear, and racing was on as scheduled. Power struggled throughout the night, and had to start the race using a provisional that comes with being in the top 12 in points. The team made some changes before the feature, but it continued to be a long night and ended up with a 22nd place finish.

The final stop on the weekend schedule was Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario. Once again, the end result was not what the team had hoped, and she ended the night credited with a 26th place finish after being involved in a wreck.

“It was a tough weekend to say the least”, says Power after the final race. “We didn’t have the results that we had hoped for, but we learned a lot in the process and we were able to bring the car home in one piece. I really want to thank everyone that helped us this weekend, and a special thanks to Bicknell Racing Products for their continued support”.

This coming weekend, Power will return to some more familiar ground as the DIRTcar Sportsman tour resumes at Mohawk International Raceway on Saturday night. Power had a great season at MIR finishing in the top five in track points and would love nothing more then to finish out the season with a DIRTcar Sportsman victory.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week. The profits from the sales of the team shirts will be used to fund their efforts for Super DIRT Week at the end of the 2012 season. Jessica Power Finishes the Regular Season in the Top Five at Both Weekly Tracks; Big Weekend Coming up With DIRTcar Sportsman Series

At the beginning of the season, Jessica Power had set her goals to win races, finish consistently inside the top ten each week, and finish in the top five in points at both weekly tracks, Mohawk International Raceway and Brockville Speedway. Power won earlier this season at Brockville, scored 30 top ten finishes to date, and went into this past weekend’s final point races amongst the top five in overall track points.

This past week, Mohawk Raceway changed up from their normal Friday night date with a rare Thursday show to start the Labor Day Weekend. It was a 35 lap Frenchie’s “Drive One” Sportsman series and also the final points night at the track for the 2012 season. Jessica started fifth in her qualifying heat race, and moved up through the field to finish with a strong second place result. In the main event, she started fourth, but struggled throughout the race, finishing with a disappointing ninth place run. She finished the season fifth in track points, and possibly fourth as the position from another competitor earlier in the season is under review. Jessica also finished in the top five in the Frenchie’s Sportsman series and was honored as the top finishing female driver after the race was over.

At Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, Power was looking to move up one more spot in the point standings to third, but would need to have a good run, or some bad luck from her nearest competitor. She started fourth in her heat, but struggled early, and finished sixth. After reporting back to the pit area, they made some adjustments to the car, hoping for a much better run in the 25 lap main event. She lined up in the staging area from the 18th position, and rolled onto the track looking to climb through the field in a hurry. The struggles continued though, and Power would end the night in 12th place, but the finish was high enough to move her up to third in track points.

“It certainly wasn’t the way we wanted to get third. We really wanted to race for it, but he had a problem early, and even though we struggled, we were able to get enough points to get by him”, says Power. “We have had a good season, and we are pretty excited about the next few weeks and some of the bigger races on our schedule”.

Cornwall Motor Speedway concluded their 2012 season on Sunday night with a 40 lap St. Lawrence Seaway Sportsman Series event. Jessica won her qualifying heat race, and started the main event from the front row. After two lengthy red flags from multi car incidents, Jessica battled amongst the top five for most of the event. At the checkered flag, she was credited with a sixth place result. She finished the 2012 St. Lawrence Seaway Sportsman Series in fourth place.

This coming weekend, Power will be on the road following the DIRTcar Sportsman series with events at Ransomville Speedway in the Niagara Falls, New York area on Friday night before crossing back into Canada with events at Merrittville Speedway and Humberstone Speedway on Saturday and Sunday.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week. The profits from the sales of the team shirts will be used to fund their efforts for Super DIRT Week at the end of the 2012 season. Jessica Power Moves to Second in Points at Mohawk Raceway With Second Place Finish; Another Top Ten Finish at Brockville Speedway

With three more races remaining at both Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway entering last weekend’s events, Jessica Power was looking to continue her strong season and move up the standings before the regular season comes to an end after Labor Day Weekend. Power was back at both tracks this past weekend looking for victory.

Mohawk Raceway was the first stop on the weekend, and Power began the night with a third place finish in her qualifying heat race. After making a few minor adjustments, she rolled onto the track for the 20 lap main event from the eighth position. She found her line early and quickly worked her way towards the front of the pack. With just three laps in, she was up to fourth place and was battling for a top three over the next few laps. With 13 lap in, Jessica had advanced to second place, and arguably had the fastest car on the track in the late stages, but lapped traffic slowed her pace just enough to keep her from reeling in the leader. She would finish with a strong second place run.

“That was a really good run for us tonight. If we could have just got to second place soon we would have had more time to chase down the leader”, says Power after the race. “Overall we are very happy with our run, and looking forward to another good night at Brockville tomorrow”.

Brockville Speedway on Saturday night was a bit of a struggle for the Power Racing team. After a fifth place finish in her qualifying heat race, the team made some changes to the car looking fore more speed before the 25 lap feature. She started the race from 12th place, and made it to the top ten after just five laps. Jessica would end the night with a ninth place result.

This coming Friday night, Power will return to Mohawk International Raceway where she will be looking for her first career MIR Sportsman win. After her second place finish last week, she vaulted from fifth to second in track points. On Saturday night she will be back at Brockville Speedway looking to improve on her fourth place points position. She is currently just seven points out of third place.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week. The profits from the sales of the team shirts will be used to fund their efforts for Super DIRT Week at the end of the 2012 season. Jessica Power Has Long Night at Brockville After Heat Race Crash

There has been a lot of good nights at the track this year for Jessica Power and the Power Racing team, but last Saturday night at Brockville was one they would just soon forget. A disappointing night at was a result of a crash in her qualifying heat race that left the car with some heavy damage, and put the crew to work to make the necessary repairs before the feature.

With just one race on their schedule this week with Mohawk Raceway being closed for their local fair, Power was hoping to have a good night in their only race of the weekend at Brockville. The evening started well, as Jessica posted the fourth fastest speed in opening practice. In her qualifying heat, with just one lap remaining a car spun right in her path, leaving no room for escape, causing some heavy damage to the car. The crew worked hard to get the car fixed in time for the 25 lap main event. She would have to start from 18th place because of the heat race incident, and by lap 18 she had made it into the top ten. Over the final laps though, with the car not handling as they had hoped, she faded to 13th.

“It was a long night for us, but that’s part of racing”, says Power. “I really have to thank the crew for all their hard work getting the car back together for the feature. We have had a pretty good season for the most part, and nights like this are bound to happen I guess. We will keep working hard and hope next week will be better”.

This coming Friday night, Power will return to Mohawk International Raceway where she currently sits fifth in points going into the final three weeks of the regular season. At Brockville, Jessica remains in the top five there as well, currently in fourth place overall in the Sportsman division.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week. The profits from the sales of the team shirts will be used to fund their efforts for Super DIRT Week at the end of the 2012 season. Jessica Power Continues Strong 2012 Season With Sixth Place Finish at Mohawk Raceway and a Top Five on Double Points Night at Brockville

As we enter the final month of the 2012 regular season, Jessica Power and the Power Racing team continue to run strong. They were looking to have a good night at both Mohawk Raceway on Friday night, and especially Brockville Speedway on Saturday night with their double laps, double purse double points night. A good night at Brockville would go a long way in solidifying her position amongst the Brockville Speedway Sportsman Five Stars for 2012.

Mohawk Raceway was the first stop on the weekend schedule for Jessica. A fourth place finish in her qualifying heat put the team to work looking for more speed for the 20 lap feature race. She rolled off the starting grid from outside of row four in the eighth position and moved inside the top five before the first caution on lap four. At the halfway point, Power had dropped to sixth, and maintained that position for the remaining laps. This was her fifth straight top ten finish at Mohawk Raceway and eighth out of the laps nine races at the track.

“It was a good run for us”, says Power. “We finally got the car going forward again after struggling a little the past couple weeks. Hopefully we can build on this. I would really like to get a win here at Mohawk before the end of the season”.

It was a big night at Brockville Speedway with double laps, double purse and double points on the line. Jessica struggled to a fourth place finish in her qualifying heat race, and again the team made some changes to get the car working better for the 50 lap main event. Starting ninth in the field, Power started out patiently, riding in tenth as the race approached lap number 10. By halfway though, Power was up to seventh, and closing in on the top five. With three laps remaining, Power moved up to fifth, and finished in that position.

Power has finished inside the top ten in 12 of 13 starts at Brockville this season, with her only finish outside of the top ten was an 11th. She has six top five finishes, including a win back on June 16th. Power is currently fourth in points in the Brockville Speedway Sportsman division with just four weeks remaining.

This coming Friday night, Power will have a rare night off as Mohawk International Raceway is closed for the week. They will return to Brockville Speedway on Saturday night looking for their second win of the season.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week. The profits from the sales of the team shirts will be used to fund their efforts for Super DIRT Week at the end of the 2012 season. Jessica Power Scores Impressive Second Place Finish at Brockville Speedway; Top Ten Finish at Mohawk Raceway on Friday Night

The 2012 racing season has been very good for Jessica Power and the Power Racing team. There is no doubt that she has emerged as a top tier driver in the Sportsman division, and is certainly the most improved driver in this area in her division. Power sits in the top five in points at both weekly tracks, and has been a consistent top ten, and often top five finisher all season long. Power continued her strong season this past weekend with the usual weekly events at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and Brockville Speedway on Saturday.

At Mohawk Raceway, a total of 39 Sportsman entries were on hand for a special 40 lap St. Lawrence Seaway Series race. Power finished 11th in the first race of the series at Brockville back in May and was hoping to improve on that going into round two. Entering the track, Power had to draw to determine her heat race starting position. Power drew a high number, and would have to start her qualifying heat from fifth place. By the end of the qualifier, she advanced to third place, locking in her position in the 40 lap feature. Jessica rolled off the starting grid from the 13th position and struggled for much of the race. She would finish with a 10th place finish, but they were certainly looking for more.

“It was a struggle tonight, but I think we found some things out, and hopefully we will be better from here on out”, says Power. “Our goals going into the year were top fen finishes, and we seem to be doing that, but we know we are much better then this. We will continue to work hard, and hopefully next week will be better”.

The next event on the weekend schedule was at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night. Jessica started the night with a second place finish in her preliminary qualifier, and started the 25 lap feature from outside of the front row. Jessica remained in second place throughout the race, following the leader’s every move, waiting to pounce on a mistake by the race leader, but it never happened. A second place finish would be the end result.

“We tried several times to get a run on the race leader”, but we just couldn’t pull it off”, says Power. “I was being patient, waiting for him to slip up, or do something, but he drover a great race, and we had to settle for second”.

This coming week, Power will be back at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night for a regular show, then on to Brockville Speedway for one of the biggest events of the 2012 season as Bob Fm and Coca Cola present Triple Double night. It will be double laps, double purse and double points for all classes.

Jessica Power Continues Top Ten Streak at Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway; Struggles in DIRTcar Series Race at Cornwall

It was a busy weekend for Jessica Power and the Power Racing team as they traveled to Mohawk International Raceway and Brockville Speedway for their regular weekly shows, as well as the first race of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday.

Going into Friday night’s events at Mohawk Raceway, Jessica was fourth place in points, within striking distance of second place with a solid finish. The night didn’t start well though, as Power was scheduled to compete in the second qualifying heat, but unable to get the car fired, as carburetor problems from the previous week continued. The team resolved the issue in time for the 20 lap main event. She would have to start the race from the rear of the field, and it was a struggle moving up through the pack. At the finish, Power would climb to 10th place, extending her top ten streak to three races at MIR, and seven out of the last eight events.

Brockville Speedway was the next stop on their schedule on Saturday night, and after a fifth place finish in her qualifying heat race, the team went to work, trying to find some more speed before the 25 lap feature race. She rolled off the starting grid from 13th place, and was hoping for another top ten finish. The first half of the race was a bit of a struggle, but Power persevered, and ended the night with a ninth place finish.

“We said at the start of the year we would be happy with top ten finishes”, but we have been running much better then that lately, and now fighting for tenth is getting a little frustrating, but that is a testament to this team giving me a great set up all the time, and we are expecting higher finishes”, says Power.

After getting rained out at Cornwall Speedway back on June 3rd for the first round of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series, the race was postponed until this past Sunday night. Jessica times fourth fastest in her time trial group, placing her fourth to start her qualifying heat race. Jessica struggled, and would have to attempt to qualify through the B-main last chance race. By finishing in the top 12 in DIRTcar Series points last year, Jessica was a guaranteed starter for the event, and she would have to fall back on that and start the 50 lap main event from 30th position. The car wasn’t perfect, but Jessica was able to move forward, and she finished the race with a 17th place finish.

“This is not how we wanted to get the series started, but we will move on, and hopefully when the series continues we will be a lot better”, says Power.

Jessica will be back in action at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night for a 40 lap St. Lawrence Seaway Series event, and then on to Brockville Speedway on Saturday night. The DIRTcar Sportsman series is off now until September 7th, 8th and 9th when they travel to Ransomville, Merrittville and Humberstone Speedway for a three race swing in the Niagara Region.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week. The profits from the sales of the team shirts will be used to fund their efforts for Super DIRT Week at the end of the 2012 season. The 2012 racing season has been a year of consistency for Jessica Power and the Power Racing team. The goal going into the year was to record as many top ten finishes as possible, and with 15 top tens through the last 17 races, Power accomplished that goal. She also picked up her first win of the season a few weeks ago, and has run in the top five on many occasions. Power has earned the respect of her fellow competitors, and has rapidly become a fan favorite at here weekly tracks, and has grabbed the attention of other competitors from various tracks that she will be racing against on the DIRTcar tour.

This past weekend, Power was back at Mohawk International Raceway for the second round of the Frenchie’s “Drive One” Sportsman Series. After struggling in her qualifying heat race, Jessica would have to roll off the starting grid from 19th place for the 35 lap series race. Power drove a great race, working her way up to fifth at one point, and crossed the finish line with a solid seventh place fun.

“The car pretty good tonight in the feature. We made a lot of changes after struggling so much in the heat race”, says Power. “We almost got to the top five, but the handling started to go away near the end of the race. Overall it was a good night”.

On Saturday night at Brockville, Power finished fifth in her qualifier with the car not running as well it should have. The team made some changes, and after a quick practice session, they were ready for the 25 lap feature event. Once again, Jessica would have to come from the rear of the field. The first 19 laps of the race went caution free, and Power was able to move up through the field. Over the final six laps she moved up to finish with a solid eighth place result.

This coming week will be a busy one for the Power racing team. First up is Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, then Brockville Speedway on Saturday followed by a return trip to Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday night for the opening round of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week. Jessica Power Continues to Impress With Top Ten Finishes at Mohawk Raceway and Cornwall Speedway

Going into the 2012 season, top ten finishes were the goal for Jessica Power and the Power Racing team. With success throughout the first half of 2012, the goals remain the same, but the personal expectations have become higher, especially after picking up a feature win at Brockville back in June. Power was hoping to continue that success during weekly events at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and Brockville Speedway on Saturday.

At Mohawk Raceway, Jessica started her qualifying heat race from ninth place, and quickly advanced through the field to finish in fifth. In the 20 lap main event, she started from the inside of the seventh row in 13th place. She steadily progressed through the field, and crossed the finish line with a strong fifth place run.

The following day, Power and the team arrived at Brockville Speedway. Jessica started at the back of the field and roared to the front, taking the heat race win. In the 25 lap feature, Jessica started from tenth, and struggled to gain ground on the leaders. She ended the night with an eighth place finish.

“Our goal is top ten every night, and we accomplished that tonight, but we really wanted more then that”, says Power. “The car was really good in the qualifying heat race, and it is a little disappointing that we didn’t move up more in the feature, but we will go back to the shop and figure out what we can do better, and come back strong next week”.

This coming week, Power will be back at Mohawk International Raceway for round two of the Frenchie’s “Drive One” Sportsman Series. On Saturday night, Jessica will return to the BOS for a regular night of racing, plus driver autograph night. Come on out to Brockville Speedway and meet Jessica and the other drivers and get an autograph.

Jessica Power Gets Another Top Ten Finish at Brockville Speedway on Saturday Night; Ends Canada Day Weekend With Mixed Results

Going into the Canada Day long weekend, Jessica Power had a full weekend lines up. The usual Friday night events at Mohawk Raceway and Saturday night races at Brockville plus a return visit to Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday night. Entering the weekend, Power was inside the top five in points at both weekly tracks, and she was hoping to continue to move up the leaderboard.

At Mohawk Raceway on Friday night, Power suffered some damage to the car in her qualifying heat race, and thanks to some a local racer with a shop close by, Power was able to get the car fixed and return for the 20 lap feature. Starting at the tail of the field, Power cautiously worked her way forward, and finished in 11th place.

“The night could have been a whole lot worse after that heat race. We broke the shock tower, and needed to get it welded back in place before we could do anything else”, says Power. “Thanks to Pro Stock racer Jody Swamp we were able to get the car up to his shop just up the road from the track, and get it fixed”.

Brockville Speedway was up next, and Power began the night with a fifth place finish in her qualifying heat. Next up was the Sportsman Dash for Cash, and with the help of everyone’s votes last week, Power started on the outside of the front row, and took the lead early. The last half of the 10 lap dash was side by side for the lead, and with the checkered flag out, she finished the race in second place. The 20 lap Sportsman feature was up next, and Power started from 12th place. Although the car didn’t handle the way the team had hoped, Jessica was still able to advance through the field, avoiding wrecks that occurred in front of her, and crossed the line with a fifth place finish.

“We were a little of on our setup, but all in all it was a good run for us. Thankfully we were able to avoid a couple wrecks that happened right around us, and we came out unscathed”, says Power after the race. “As for the dash for cash, I really want to thank all of our family, friends, fans and sponsors that voted for us. We had a good run, and came within a lap of winning it”.

Taking advantage of the long weekend, the Power racing team traveled to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday. The added seat time at the track was important as the DIRTcar Sportsman Series comes to Cornwall in just a couple of weeks. Power started seventh in her qualifying heat and advanced to third. In the 20 lap main event, Jessica started from 12th but a bold that somehow sheared off the alternator caused some mechanical issues under the hood, and Power was unable to continue.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week. Jessica Power Continues to Impress With Top Five Finishes at Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway on the Weekend

If you are looking to find the most improved driver this season in the Sportsman division, you don’t have to look any further then Jessica Power.  After picking up her first win of the season last week at Brockville Speedway, Power backed that up with a pair of top five finishes this week at Mohawk Raceway on Thursday night, and Brockville Speedway on Saturday night.

Mohawk International Raceway hosted a rare Thursday night event in place of their usual Friday night affair this past week.  Power began the night with a second place finish in her preliminary heat race, moving through the field from her fifth starting spot.  In the 20 lap feature, Jessica started from outside of row five in the 10th position.  She moved up through the pack quickly, and by the first caution on lap 12, she was up to sixth.  With five laps to go, Power advanced to third, and maintained that spot for the rest of the race.

“The car was great again tonight.  I really have to thank the crew for all of their help in the shop and here at the track”, says Power.  “We have really worked hard on our program this year and it is really paying off for us”.

On Saturday night, Jessica returned to Brockville Speedway, hoping to get back to victory lane.  She started from the rear of the field in the qualifying heat and battled into the top five before the checkered flag.  During intermission, Jessica signed autographs for the fans, and while becoming one of the most popular drivers at the track with her success this season, there were plenty of young race fans that were happy to meet Jessica.  While Jessica signed autographs, her team made some adjustments to the car, getting ready for the 25 lap feature.  Jessica started from 15th place and gracefully worked her way forward at the drop of the green flag, and would finish the night with a solid fifth place finish.

“The car worked really well for us on the bottom of the track”, says Power.  “We were able to work our way forward, but needed some more laps after starting so far back.  We will take it though, and move on to next week”.

This coming week Power will be back in action at Mohawk Raceway on Friday night as they return to their regular weekly action, and then back to Brockville Speedway on Saturday night as they host a regular program plus a dash for cash for the Sportsman.

As part of the current Brockville Speedway top five in points, Jessica will be in the Dash for Cash.  The starting lineup for the dash will be done by fan voting on the Brockville Speedway website, brockvillespeedway.com.  We encourage everyone to go and vote for Jessica for the dash, and help her get a front row starting position for the $400 to win event.  Voting is on now and goes until noon on Saturday.

The Power Racing team still has their racing apparel for sale at the track each week.  The profits from the sales of the team shirts will be used to fund their efforts for Super DIRT Week at the end of the 2012 season.  To purchase your shirt, visit us at the track on raceday, or email power52racing@hotmail.com.

Jessica Power Gets First Win of 2012 With Impressive Performance at Brockville Speedway on Saturday Night

The start of the 2012 season has been good for Jessica Power and the Power Racing team, posting strong finishes virtually every week, and solidly inside the top ten in points at both Mohawk International Raceway and Brockville Speedway.  Power was back in action at both tracks again this week, looking to capture the first win of the season.

At Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, Jessica began with a second place finish her qualifying heat race after starting third.  The main event was a 35 lap Frenchie’s “Drive One” Series race, and Power would start from outside row four in the eighth position.  After falling back to as low as tenth early in the race, Jessica was able to climb back to sixth before the checkered flag.

“The car was just a little too tight, but overall it was a solid run for us”, says Power.  “It was a good way to start the Frenchie’s series, and hopefully we can be even better for the next one”.

Brockville Speedway was up next, and the night began with the usual qualifying heat races.  Power started her heat race from second, and ended with the same result.  In the 25 lap feature, Jessica started from sixth place, and steadily worked her way towards the front.  At lap eight she was up to third place, and running very strong.  Three laps later, Power moved into second, and began to chase down the race leader.  With 17 laps in the books, Power took over the lead, and held it through lap 20 when the caution came out to bunch the field.  Directly behind Power for the final two restarts, was last years Sportsman champion and a four-time race winner already at the BOS in 2012, but that didn’t phase her, as she went on to win her first of 2012, which brought many cheers from the crowd, who have made it increasingly visible that Power has become a fan favorite at Brockville.

“I really have to thank my crew for all of their work in the shop this week”, says Power.  “We had been running ok this year, but we really made a lot of changes to the car this week and they really paid off for us tonight.  I also want to thank our sponsors and fans for their continued support.

This coming week, Power will be back at Mohawk International Raceway for a rare Thursday night appearance.  On Saturday, she will return to Brockville Speedway looking for her second win in a row.

Jessica Power Gets Rained Out Again at Mohawk Raceway; Grabs Another Top Ten Finish at Brockville Speedway on Saturday Night

Like most weekend this season, Jessica Power and the Power Racing team were at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and Brockville Speedway on Saturday.  Power has been off to a strong start early in 2012, and was hoping to continue that success through this weekend.

After getting rained out last Friday night at Mohawk International Raceway, Power was hoping for a little co-operation from Mother Nature this week.  The forecast called for late day storms, but the rain held off at the track throughout the afternoon.  Although the drove through some heavy rain on the way to the track, the team was hopeful that the racing would go on as scheduled.  As they arrived at the track, the heavy rain and hail had come and gone, and it appeared that the track officials were going to take the time and get the track worked in, despite the lengthy delay.  It was over two hours past the original starting time, and the track was just a few minutes away from being race-ready when another shower briefly passed over the track, ending the night at MIR.

Lingering rain showers continued into Saturday, but Brockville Speedway was able to remain dry, and racing was on as scheduled.  Power finished fourth in her qualifying heat race, and started the 25 lap main event from the seventh starting position.  Jessica battled to stay in the top ten throughout the race, and would cross the finish line in tenth place.

“We were just off on the setup a bit”, says Power after the race.  “We should have had a different shock on the right front, as I expected the inside lane to be a lot rougher then what it was.  We still ended up with a top ten, so we will take that and move on, and hope for better results next week”.

This coming week, Power will return to Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and Brockville Speedway on Saturday.  Early in the 2012 season, Power currently sits eighth in points at Mohawk Raceway and is off to a strong start at Brockville, sitting seventh in track points, but only four points out of third.

Jessica Power Gets Top Ten Finish at Brockville Speedway; Mohawk Raceway and Cornwall Speedway Rained Out

With four straight top ten finishes going into the weekend, Jessica Power and the Power Racing team were looking forward to another busy weekend at the track.  Mohawk International Raceway was first on the schedule, followed by Brockville Speedway on Saturday, and then on to Cornwall Sunday for their DIRTcar Sportsman Series race.

There was plenty of rain in the area most of the day on Friday, and the forecast got progressively worse through the evening at Mohawk International Raceway.  After waiting it out, track officials decided to cancel their racing program late in the afternoon.

Saturday’s forecast had improved, but their were still some lingering showers in the early afternoon, but they all stayed clear of Brockville Ontario Speedway, and they were able to get their show off without any delays from Mother Nature.  In her qualifying heat race, Power struggled on the heavy racing surface, starting in sixth and unable to advance.  The team made several changes to the car for the 25 lap feature.  At the drop of the green, Jessica got off to a slow start, struggling to get inside the top 15 through the first half of the race.  In the second half, Power would find her groove, slowly moving up the leaderboard with each passing lap, and would finish with a respectable ninth place finish.

“We were definitely hoping to have a better run, but it was really tough out there tonight”, says Power.  “With all the rain that we had the last day or two, the track was unusually rough, and really heavy.  We did salvage another top ten finish out of it, and we are happy with that”.

On Sunday, the rain returned, and Cornwall Speedway made their decision early to cancel their racing program.  The DIRTcar Series events that were scheduled for Sunday were postponed until Sunday, July 22nd

This coming week, Power will return to Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and Brockville Speedway on Saturday.  Early in the 2012 season, Power currently sits eighth in points at Mohawk Raceway and is off to a strong start at Brockville, sitting third in points through the first month of the season.

Jessica Power and the Power Motorsports team would like to thank Speedy Auto Service, Gananoque Chev-Olds, Fastenal, Jackson’s Landscaping and Property Maintenance, Wing’s Live Bait & Tackle, John’s Your Local Grocer, Stover Bus Lines, Axcel Sports, Great Chow Express, Star Diner, Len Corcoran Excavating, Glen Gould Estate Construction, Bicknell Racing Products, Bert Transmission Atomic Sign Works, Bob Hilbert Sportswear, South Eastern Mechanical Inc., and Finish Line Web Design for their support during the 2012 racing season.

Jessica Power Racing Continues to Gain Momentum After Another Great Weekend at the Track; DIRTcar Sportsman Series to Begin This Weekend

It only takes a quick glance at the point standings to realize that Jessica Power is one of the most improved Sportsman teams in this area.  They have worked hard over the off-season on their program, and did some early season testing under race conditions at tracks that she is unfamiliar with.  The hard work is paying off as she has posted strong finishes throughout the early part of the 2012 season.  Power had a pair of events scheduled this weekend with her usual visits to Mohawk Raceway and Brockville Speedway on Friday and Saturday night, and later added Sunday’s race at Cornwall to their schedule.

At Mohawk on Friday night, Power began the night with a fourth place finish in her qualifying heat.  She had started on the outside of the front row, but struggled early.  The team made several adjustments on the car before hitting the track for the 20 lap feature.  Power ran a great race, advancing to third place early, and holding that spot through halfway.  In the final laps, Power had slipped back to fifth, but still a solid performance.

The next stop on the weekend schedule was Brockville Ontario Speedway.  Power.  She finished her preliminary qualifying event from fifth place, and reported to the pits for adjustment in hopes of getting the car dialed in for the upcoming 25 lap main event.  Power would start from the 11th position, but a flat tire on lap 2 sent her to the pits.  She returned to the track, and was able to get back on the lead lap under the next caution.  From that point forward, Power worked her way through the field with one of her best performances of the season.  She battled her way back to record a fifth place finish.

“It really looked like it was going to be a bad night when we cut down that right front tire with just two laps in”, says Power after the race.  “Fortunately we were able to get back out there, and get our lap back and race our way up to fifth.  It was a real good run for us”.

With the two successful starts already on the weekend, and the DIRTcar Sportsman Series looming next week at Cornwall, Power decided to head back to Cornwall to get more experience at the track.  Once again, Power struggled in the opening heat race, and the team made some adjustments before the feature.  She started from deep in the field in 17th place, but again moved through the field.  At the end of the 20 lap event, she had moved up to 10th.

Jessica Power and the Power Motorsports team would like to thank Speedy Auto Service, Gananoque Chev-Olds, Fastenal, Jackson’s Landscaping and Property Maintenance, Wing’s Live Bait & Tackle, John’s Your Local Grocer, Stover Bus Lines, Axcel Sports, Great Chow Express, Star Diner, Len Corcoran Excavating, Glen Gould Estate Construction, Bicknell Racing Products, Atomic Sign Works, Bob Hilbert Sportswear, South Eastern Mechanical Inc., and Finish Line Web Design for their support during the 2012 racing season.

Jessica Power Ends Busy Weekend of Racing With Top Five Finish at Cornwall Speedway Opener; Solid Finishes at Brockville and Mohawk

It was a busy weekend of racing for Jessica Power and the Power Racing team, with three events on tap, beginning with Mohawk Raceway on Friday night, then on to Brockville Speedway on Saturday and ending with the season opening events at Cornwall Motor Speedway.

It was a struggle early at Mohawk Raceway on Friday night.  A fifth place finish in the preliminary heats put her back in 21st to start the 20 lap Sportsman main event.  The first half of the race continued to be frustrating for Power, unable to gain much ground.  As the race approached halfway, Power was a long way back in 19th place.  The second half of the race was a different story, as the car roared to life.  With five laps remaining, she was in the top 15, and continued to pass a car a lap until the finish, getting up to 10th.

“We really struggled early in the race, but I changed my line after halfway and really found something”, says Power.  “It is too bad the race wasn’t a few laps longer, and I think we would have moved up even more”.

At Brockville on Saturday, Power had a strong second place finish in her qualifying heat race.  In the 25 lap main event, she would start from outside of the fourth row in eighth place, and battled an ill-handling car for much of the race, she would finish the event in 11th, but later determined the cause of the handling issues.

“The car didn’t want to work well at all, and once we got back to the pits after the race we discovered that we had a bent shock and the torsion bars had went away on us”, says Power.  “We still managed to salvage an ok finish, and we will be back next week looking for better results”.

The final stop of the weekend was Cornwall Speedway, and Power struggled early in practice.  After making some changes to the car, she had improved some, taking home a sixth place finish in her heat race.  In the 20 lap main event, she would start from the 15th position but this time the car was working well.  In just five laps she was into the top ten, and into the top five as the race approached lap 13.  Power would go on to finish fourth, posting her best run of the 2012 season to date.

Jessica Power Has Disappointing Night at Mohawk Raceway Opener; Starts 2012 Season at Brockville With Solid Top Ten Finish

The start of a busy racing season is underway for Jessica Power and the Power Racing team.  First is was the opening night at Mohawk International Raceway in Hogansburg, New York, followed by the 2012 opener at Brockville Speedway the following night.

Friday night’s racing at Mohawk Raceway didn’t go the way they had planned.  A spin on lap 3 of her qualifying heat relegated her to the back of the pack to start the 20 lap main event.  The spin did not cause any damage to the car though, and before they lined up for the feature they were able to make some adjustments on the car looking to get a better handle on the car.  Starting from 22nd, Power had a long way to go, but she bided her time on a track that she is still trying to learn, and by the end of the race she had moved up to 15th.

“It wasn’t a great run for us, but it could have been much worse”, says Power.  “We don’t have a lot of experience here, and are still learning as we go, so we will take this, and hopefully next week will be better”.

On Saturday, Power and the team had their car on display at Wing’s Live Bait and Tackle during the day, before heading over to Brockville Speedway in the afternoon to get ready for their opener.  Power got off to a much better start this time, finishing second in her heat race.  This put her on the outside of the second row to start the 25 lap sportsman main event.  She rain a strong race, staying inside the top five through the first 16 laps.  Power would finish in seventh.

“It was a pretty good start to the year.  We had a really strong car early in the feature, but the handling went a way a bit at the end”, says Power.  We are pretty happy with that finish, and will build on that and hope to be even better next week”.

This coming weekend, Power will be at Mohawk International Raceway again on Friday night, Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, and may also be at Cornwall Speedway on Sunday for their opening night.
