It was a busy week for Jessica Power and the Power Racing team. After leaving Cornwall Speedway last weekend after a weekend double header, the team then had a quick turnaround period to get the car ready for a Wednesday trip to the Niagara region with a DIRTcar Sportsman event at Ransomville Speedway. After returning home, Jessica began to prepare for Brockville Speedway on Saturday night as they hosted round two of the Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series and planned to attend Cornwall Speedway once again on Sunday.
Jessica and the Power Racing team made the trek to Ransomville Speedway on Wednesday for the next round of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series. It was a struggle early in the night as Jessica qualified for 50 lap main event through the consolation race. She was making steady progress once the green flag dropped until lap seven, when Jessica was caught up in a wreck, and although she was able to continue on, the handling of the car was not what it had been before but Jessica was able to battle back to a 15th place finish.
After returning home, their attention now switched to Brockville Speedway for the 40 lap Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series race. Heat race lineups were determined by a timed hot lap session, and Jessica set fast time in her group, earning a front row starting spot for the preliminary qualifier. After finishing the race in third place, Jessica returned to the pit area to make some adjustments to the car before the night’s 40 lap feature event. She started from the eighth position, and patiently bided her time early in the event. By lap 14 she had moved into sixth place and was inside the top five before the race reached the halfway distance. At the checkered flag, Jessica crossed the finish line with a solid fourth place finish.
“It was a good run for us again tonight”, says Power after the race. “We really struggled early in the season, and hopefully we have put that behind us now, and can build on our recent results”.
The plan was to attend Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night, as they were hosting double features to make up for the rained out event from a couple weeks ago. However, for the fifth time this season, Cornwall Speedway was forced to cancel their program.
This coming weekend will be a quiet for the Jessica Power team. They will have a rare Saturday night off as Brockville Speedway does not have the Sportsman division on the schedule for this weekend. They will be at the Lyndhurst Gun Show this Saturday with Wing’s Live Bait and Tackle. They will return to action at Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night as they attempt their double Sportsman feature night to make up for the rainout from a couple weeks ago.
Jessica Power apparel is available at Brockville Speedway on Saturday nights throughout the season. Stop by the Finish Line Web Design merchandise trailer located behind the main grandstand to purchase your t-shirts or hoodies.
